Description
The silicone tamper base is a useful accessory in espresso brewing that can provide a stable and clean surface for pressing espresso.
Here’s how to use it:
- Place the silicone tamper base on a stable surface, such as a counter.
- Insert the portafilter into the compression base so that the opening is over the silicone pad.
- Use your tamper to press the coffee into the cap, pressing down with steady and even pressure.
The silicone base provides a stable surface for the portafilter and helps prevent it from shifting during the compression process.
After pressing, remove any excess coffee from the lip of the portafilter and use the tamper base to clean the excess coffee residue from the silicone base.
Place the portafilter on the espresso machine to start the brewing process.
Using a silicone base can help prevent damage to your countertop or espresso machine and also helps keep your work area clean by providing a place to rest your portafilter during the pressing process.
Usually we place a coffee grounds collection bag just below the base.
Remember to clean your base regularly to prevent the build-up of stuck-on coffee grounds, which can affect the quality of your espresso.
